Deep Roots, Wide Reach: The Navigator Story in Germany
The Navigator ministry in Germany goes back to the 1950’s when the first American Navigators started building relationships and inviting young adults on university campuses to explore faith. The movement grew organically with the founding generation taking their Navigator focus into their families, neighborhoods, workplaces and also to new universities.
Today we continue forming a network of seekers, Jesus’ friends and kingdom laborers who love to go deep in one-to-one relationships, be real, take the gospel next door and think generationally. The bible is our comfort zone, the ways of sharing its treasures are many.
You can meet the “Navis” in Germany as a teen on sailing retreats and discipleship weekends, as university student on currently six campuses (Aachen, Bonn, Bremen, Hannover, Leipzig, Dresden – and an associated Team in Erfurt) and on your lifelong journey in local, regional or even online communities or by getting alongside a fellow pilgrim who also wants to keep exploring and passing on the gospel. Silent retreats, Conversation or Language Cafés, Musicians Ministry and Marriage weekends are some of the ongoing expressions of the passion we share. Our annual fall conference is always a joyful highlight for all generations.
We treasure our international connectedness in the wider Navigator and church family which has always been life-giving to our work – both ways, in receiving as well as in sending harvest workers. Hopefully these connections will keep multiplying. Our multinational team of close to 30, some full-time, mostly part-time, staff gives support to local leaders, admin, event planning, or developing materials. A national leadership team of six helps the country leader in steering the ship to new shores.
