The Navigators ministry began in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, growing out of a vision to help individuals know Christ deeply and make Him known through personal discipleship. American Navigator missionaries began to disciple men and women in the UK, especially in Manchester and London, but it was the Billy Graham Crusade of 1954 in Harringay that really started the ball rolling. The Navigators were asked by Billy Graham to handle the counsellor training and follow up and in 1955 Joyce Turner started to distribute the Topical Memory System to new Christians. 

The ministry quickly established a presence in university settings, where students were equipped to grow in their faith and pass it on to others through life-on-life mentoring. Over time, the work expanded beyond campuses into neighbourhoods, workplaces, churches, and among internationals. The heart of the ministry has always remained the same: to see people become mature followers of Jesus who, in turn, disciple others.  

Throughout the decades, Navigators in the UK have built a quiet but faithful legacy of relational ministry—walking alongside people through Scripture, prayer, and the everyday challenges of life. The emphasis on spiritual generations and long-term personal investment has shaped countless lives.  

Today, Navigators in the UK continue to invest in individuals and communities across the country, with Navigator Reps living and serving in cities, towns, and student hubs. The movement remains committed to advancing the gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations—beginning right here in the UK.
